Help & About

We Are Lahad Datu is a community archive. Anything you share becomes part of our town's memory. This page explains how it works.

How to share something

Sign in with your email — we send you a code, no password needed. Then choose what you're sharing: a story, a photo, a memory, something creative, or a place in nature. Big or small, it all belongs here. A curator reads new contributions before they appear, so there may be a short wait.

Share something

Any language is welcome

Write in English, 中文, Bahasa Melayu, or any language you speak at home. We show your words exactly as you wrote them — nothing is machine-translated. The buttons and menus can be switched between English, 中文 and BM at the top of any page.

How children take part — and how we protect them

Children's creativity belongs in our town's memory. But a child's safety comes before everything else on this platform. These rules are not preferences; they are built into the system itself:

  • A child never has their own account. A parent, guardian or teacher submits on their behalf.
  • We never publish a child's name, age, or where they live. Their work is credited to a young artist and, where relevant, to their school.
  • We never collect or show a precise location for a child's work — not as text, and never as a pin on the map.
  • Every contribution involving a child is read by a person before it appears. There is no automatic publishing, ever.

If you believe a child is at risk, do not wait. Report it to us using the ⚑ button on any contribution, and contact Talian Kasih 15999 or the police directly.

Asking for something to be removed

A contribution always belongs to the person who made it. If you shared something and want it taken down, or you are a family member or heir asking on someone's behalf, write to us. We will confirm who you are, remove or restrict the content, and tell you when it is done.
